Sing Along

Here are the lyrics to some of the most popular songs of the season...

HERE WE COME A-CAROLING

Here we come a-caroling among the leaves so green;
Here we come a-wand'ring so fair to be seen.
(refrain)
Love and joy come to you,
And to you glad Christmas too,
And God bless you and send you a Happy New Year,
And God send you a Happy New Year.

We are not daily beggars that beg from door to door
But we are neighbor's children, whom you have seen before.
(refrain)

God bless the Master of this house, likewise, the Mistress too;
And all the little children that round the table go.
(refrain)

ROCKIN' AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Rockin' around the Christmas tree at the Christmas party hop.
Mistletoe hung where you can see ev'ry couple tries to stop.
Rockin' around the Christmas tree, Let the Christmas spirit ring.
Later we'll have some punkin' pie and we'll do some caroling.

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear
Voices singing, "Let's be jolly, Deck the halls with boughs of holly"

Rockin' around the Christmas tree, have a happy holiday
Ev'ryone dancing merrily in the new old fashioned way-y-y-y!

I HEARD THE BELLS ON CHRISTMAS DAY

I heard the bells on Christmas day, their old familiar carols play;
And wild and sweet the words repeat of peace on earth, good will to men.
I thought, as now this day had come, the belfries of al Christendom
Had rung so long the unbroken song of peace on earth, good will toward men.

And in despair, I bowed my head, "there is no peace on earth," I said
"For hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will toward men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep, "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep,
The wrath shall fall, the right prevail, with peace on earth, good will toward men."

JOLLY OLD SAINT NICHOLAS

Jolly old Saint Nicholas,….lean your ear this way!
Don't you tell a single soul….what I'm going to say;
Christmas Eve is coming soon,….now, you dear old man,
Whisper what you'll bring to me,…tell me if you can.

When the clock is striking twelve,….when I'm just asleep,
Down the chimney broad and black with your pack you'll creep;
All the stockings you will find…. Hanging in a row,
Mine will be the shortest one….You'll be sure to know.

Johnny wants a pair of skates
Susy wants a dolly
Nellie wants a story book;
She thinks dolls a folly;
As for me, my little brain
Isn't very bright
Choose for me, old Santa Clause,
What you think is right.

HARK! THE HERALD ANGELS SING

Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies;
With th'angelic hosts proclaim, "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King."

Christ, by highest heaven adored; Christ the everlasting Lord;
Come, Desire of Nations, come, Fix in us thy humble home.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; Hail th'Incarnate Deity,
Pleased as man with man to dwell; Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the new-born King."

Hail, the heavenborn Prince of Peace! Hail, the sun of righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings, Risen with healing in His wings;
Mild he lays His glory by, born that man no more my die,
Born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.
Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the new-born King."

O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM

O little town of Bethlehem! How still we see thee lie;
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, the silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light.
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gather to all above.
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wond'ring love.
O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!

How silent, how silently, the wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts the blessing of his heaven.
No ear my hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him Still, the dear Christ enters in.

O Holy Child of Bethlehem! Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in; be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN' TO TOWN

You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout, I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town.
He's making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty and nice,
Santa Claus is coming to town.

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake,
He knows if you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake.

Oh! You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town.

A HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS

Have a holly jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year.
I don't know if there'll be snow but I have a cup of cheer.

Have a holly jolly Christmas, and when you walk down the street.
Say hello to friends you know and ev'ryone you meet.

Oh, ho, the mistletoe…hung where you can see.
Somebody waits for you, kiss her once for me.

Have a holly jolly Christmas, and in case you didn't hear
Oh, by golly have a holly jolly Christmas…this year!

WHAT CHILD IS THIS?

What child is this who, laid to rest on Mary's lap, is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King, whom Shepherds guard and angels sing!
Haste, haste to bring Him laud, the Babe, the son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate, where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear: for sinners here, the silent world is pleading:
Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through, the Cross be born, for me, for you:
Hail, Hail, the Word made flesh, the Babe, the son of Mary!

So bring him incense, gold and myrrh, Come peasant King to own Him
The King of kings, salvation brings. Let loving hearts enthrone him.
Raise, raise the song on high. The Virgin sings here lullaby:
Joy, joy, for Christ is born, The Babe, the son of Mary!

WE THREE KINGS

We three kings of orient are, bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star
(refrain)

O…Star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to they perfect light.

Born a King on Bethlehem plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign.
(refrain)

Frankincense to offer have I,
Incense owns a Diety night:
Prayer and praising, All men raising,
Worship Him, God on high.
(refrain)

Myrrh is mine: its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom:
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
Sealed in the stone cold tomb.
(refrain)

Glorious now behold Him arise,
King and God, and sacrifice;
Heaven sing Alleluia:
Alleluia the earth replies
(refrain)

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN

Frosty, the Snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal

Frosty, the snowman is a fairy tale they say
He was made of snow but the children know
How he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found.
For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around.

Frosty, the snowman was alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me.

Thumpety thump thump, thumpety thump thump
Look at Frosty go.
Thumpety thump thump, thumpety thump thump
Over the hills of snow!

Frosty, the Snowman knew the sun was hot that day,
So, he said, "Let's run and we'll have have some fun
Now before I melt away."

Down to the village with a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all around the square,
Sayin', "Catch me if you can."

He led them down the streets of town right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when he heard him holler, "stop!"

For Frosty, the Snowman had to hurry on his way
But he waived goodbye sayin', "Don't you cry,
I'll be back again some day."

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN

When I was a seeker
I sought both night and day,
I asked the Lord to help me,
And he showed me the say.
Go tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and ev'ry where
Go tell it on the mountain,
Our Jesus Christ is born

He made me a watchman upon a city wall,
And if I am a Christian, I am the least of all……

Go tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and ev'ry where
Go tell it on the mountain,
Our Jesus Christ is born.

A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give our King, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum
Shall I play for you! pa rum pum pum,
On my drum.

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum
Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

THE FIRST NOEL

The First Noel the angels did say,
Was certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields where they……lay keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter's night….that was…..so deep

(refrain)
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Isreal.

2. They look-ed up…and saw a star,
Shining in…the east….beyond them far.
And to…the earth…it gave great light
And…so it continued both day…and night
(refrain)
3. This star drew night to the northwest,
O'er Bethlehem….it took its rest,
And there…it did…both stop and stay.
Right over the place where Jesus lay.
(refrain)
4. Then entered in…those wise-men three,
Full rev'rently…upon their knee,
And offered there…In His presence,
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
(refrain)

DECK THE HALL

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Don we now our gay apparel, Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la.
Troll the ancient Yule-tide carol, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

See the blazing Yule before us, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Strike the harp and join the chorus, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Follow me in merry measure, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
While I tell of Yule-tide treasure, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Fast away the old year passes, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Hail the new year, lads and lasses, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Sing we joyous, all together, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
heedless of the wind and weather, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you, "Merry Christmas."

Gee, if I could only say, "Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh, oh gee, how happy I'd be, if only I could whistle

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth!

GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN

God rest you merry, gentlemen, let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ our Savior was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's pow'r when we were gone astray;

O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy,
O tidings of comfort and joy.

In Bethlehem, in Isreal, this blessed Babe was born,
And laid within a manger upon this blessed more;
That which is His Mother Mary did nothing take in scorn.

O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy,
O tidings of comfort and joy.

From God our heav'nly Father, a blessed angel came;
And unto certain shepherds brought tidings of the same;
How that in Bethlehem was born the Son of God by name.

O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy,
O tidings of comfort and joy.

LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping;
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

When we finally say good night,
How I'll hate going out in the storm;
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR

It came upon a midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold!
"Peace on earth, good will to men,
From heaven's all gracious King!"
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.

Still through the cloven skies they came
With peaceful wings unfurled
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing.
And ever o'er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.

For lo! The days are hastening on,
By prophet bards foretold,
When, with the ever-circling years,
Shall come the Age of Gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And all the world give back the song
Which now the angels sing.

WINTER WONDERLAND

Sleigh bells ring, are you list'nin'?
In the lane snow is glist'nin'
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is the new bird
He sings a love song as we go along
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say "Are you married?" We'll say, "No, man!"
but you can do the job when you're in town!"

Later on we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, the plans that we made
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Sleigh bells ring, are you list'nin'?
In the lane snow is glist'nin'
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is the new bird
He's singing a song as we go along
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with Mister Snowman
Until the older kiddies knock 'im down!

When it snows, ain't it thrillin'
Tho' your nose gets a chillin?
We'll frolic and play the Eskimo way
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

UP ON THE HOUSETOP

Up on a housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down thru the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones, Christmas joys.

Chorus
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down thru the chimney with good Saint Nick.

First comes the stocking of little Nell
Oh, dear Santa fill it well
Give her a dolly that laughs and cries
One that will open and shut her eyes.

Chorus
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down thru the chimney with good Saint Nick.

Oh, just see what a glorious fill!
Here is a hammer and lots of tacks
Whistle and ball and a whip that cracks.

Oh, oh, oh! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down thru the chimney with good Saint Nick.

Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountainsin reply,

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be,
Which inspire your heav'nly song?

Him whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee,

JINGLE BELLS

Dashing through the snow
On a one-horse open sleigh,
Over the fields we go,
Laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring,
making spirits bright,
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,
I thought I'd take a ride,
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank;
Misfortune seemed his lot;
He got into a drifted bank,
And we, we got upsot.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago,
the story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh,
He laughed as there
I sprawling lie,
But quickly drove away.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay
two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you'll take the lead.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

RUDOLPH, THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
but do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows.
All the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names;
they never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say:
"Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him, as they shouted out with glee:
"Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you'll go down in history."
