Denver Children's Home
Denver Children's Home (established in 1876) is beginning their annual "Holiday Giving" drive starting now through December 22nd, 2006. Each
year more than 7,467 children in Colorado are identified as abused or
neglected. Denver Children's Home (DCH) provides a therapeutic, safe
place for these emotionally distressed children, adolescents and their
families to heal and grow. DCH accepts cash donations, gift cards,
slightly used art supplies, books, and clothing. Our drop off location

Give a little of your time, get a lot in return! MentorsMatter offers a
variety of opportunities to share some time with one of the many at-risk
youth living in Boulder County. We are dedicated to matching you with a
program that fits your schedule and style. Think you're too busy? The
volunteer opportunities vary from a few hours a week, to a few hours a
month, so we can definitely find a program that works with your busy
schedule. Mentoring does not require any specialized skills-just the ability
to have fun with a child, ranging in age from 5-17. You will be matched
either one-to-one, or in a group setting, with people that share the same
interests. Either choose your own activities: hiking, sporting events,
theater, picnic, ect, or attend activities held at the partner agencies.

Denver Rescue Mission
The Denver Rescue Mission is in desperate need of non-perishable food donations to help feed poor families this fall. Items most needed are, Canned Fruit (greatest need), Canned Vegetables, Canned Beans (i.e.: pork and beans), Canned Meats: tuna, chicken, turkey, Pasta and Tomato sauce, Baby food, formula, and diapers (sizes 3,4,5,6). The Denver Rescue Mission distributes over 15,000 pounds of food a month. Please help us provide food for Denver's poor. Santa Claus Shops Need Your Help
The Holidays are here, and The Denver Santa Claus Shop asks the community
to donate new and gently used toys for more than 15,000 needy children. Metro area King Soopers’ stores have collection boxes for toy drop-offs through Wednesday, December 20. Businesses also can help this year by holding toy drives. Employees get in the
Holiday spirit while helping some less fortunate children. For more information

Recording For The Blind & Dyslexic
The Rocky Mountain Unit of the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic is now recruiting volunteers. RFB&D, a national nonprofit organization, was founded in 1951with a mission to provide recorded textbooks to blind WWII veterans who wanted to attend college under the GI Bill of Rights. Since that time, nationally, we have provided more than 246,000 recorded books to nearly 138,000 individuals from kindergarten through graduate school and beyond, who are blind, visually impaired, learning or physically disabled.
